Transmission about to go?

I just bought a '98 convertible SE turbo with 56,000 miles on it. It's my first SAAB ever and I am really happy to own it. However, I have been reading and hearing that the 5 speed tranny is a real achilles heel and to do whatever you can to not cause it to crap out. So I just had the gear oil changed and now I'm having problems getting into reverse gear! It grinds on occasion and I have the clutch in every time. Is this the dreaded sign of breakdown to come? Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Will tightening the clutch cable do the trick? No other gear has a problem. I do park on a small uphill slope, but always turn the engine off before locking it in 3rd. Any thoughts?
