Domments based on over 25 years of using (in Saabs) and selling AMSOIL.
I strongly urge use of a good engine flush before the change. The best I know of are made by AMSOIL and BG. Have also heard good reports about one called AutoRX, though it takes longer. If you don't, or won't, use a flush, plan to change the filter after a couple thousand miles, and if the oil gets very dirty, change the first batch after 4-5,000 miles.
I see no need to go to any heavier viscosity than xW-30, as long as you are using a good synthetic. I would not use a synthetic which uses anything but a PAO base, and that rules out most of them. Not that the others aren't better than petroleum, but they just aren't as good as they could be.
