First you will need your vin. In 97 there were two differant FPR. One has a bigger nipple then the other. The differant FPR also has two differant color gaskets so when you take out your old FPR make sure the inside green gaskets are the same color. The FPR is also very tricky to install. It is located behind the air intake tube going into the throttle body. The tricky part about installing the unit is that it is secured by only one metal gasket and screw. When removing the metal gasket make sure not to lose the screw. I have done this and the screw falls into the back of the engine and is very difficult to find, I never did. Your current FPR I'm assuming is still good. A Saab mechanic can check the FPR to ensure that it is within normal levels(WNL). If the FPR is outside WNL the mechanic can change the pressure in the FPR with a special Saab tool. I'm not sure though which is more cost effective, having the mechanic check all these things or just buying the $50 FPR. Good luck nonetheless and keep us updated on this fix.
