I have a 1994 900S 2.5L V6 Automatic. At 91,000 a Saab dealer changed the timing belt for free "under warranty". 12.5 months and 3,800 miles later at 94,800, the gasket surrounding the timing belt cover somehow got tangled into the timing belt causing the camshaft to malfunction causing 24 bent valves. Saab claims no liability and offers a $1,000 goodwill jesture toward a $4,500 repair bill. To no avail, I've exhausted all appeals through motor vehicle and Saab all the way to Saab Executive Offices in Georgia. Why would Saab change the timing belt, etc. at 30K,60K and 9OK for free unless they were aware of a problem with the 1994 2.5L engine, the first year of issue. Anecdotally, I have heard of problems with this engine; however, I can not find any hard documentation. Does anyone know of any? I wouldn't recommend the 1994 900S with this engine to anyone.
