Unfortunately, I put probably over $2k into mine this year, but that includes new tires (and 2 wheels), T-belt/tensioner, camshaft and crankshaft seals, oil pan and gasket, and money wasted on new a/c compressor, but on the good side the car should keep running fine for a while (ha ha that was a joke) and yes, your car could probably go for $3K on a REALLY GOOD day. Saab has issued a bulletin, I'm told, that the timing belt and tensioner should be replaced EVERY time it is removed, even, say, if it was one week ago. This does not inspire confidence to any measurable extent. THe fact that your belt went at 92K probably indicates that it was not replaced at 65K like it was supposed to be. The unfortunate part is that you are now 25K miles farther down the road, so it will be difficult to lay blame even if we all know where it lies.

The irony, for me, is that although I could not afford new car payments right now, I somehow came up with the $2k+ for repairs, go figure, it was one thing after another, I thought each new problem would be the last. How does this help you? At 120K miles, anything can go wrong, one right after another, and likely will.

SO what to do? Push the original mechanic as DinD says, then bail, or just donate it to a charity, take a nice deduction, and bail. Either way, unfortunately, time may be running for our V6's
