Dead Lock

Hi
I cam out this morning (not frosty or freezing) and I could not turn the key from the hosizontal (dead lock) position to the vertival position to unlock the car. Eventually climbed in through the tailgate, stuck the key in the ignition and switched on and then pressed the button to pop the locks. All popped up except the driver's one. Now I have to get in the passenger door and leav e the driver's window open so I can stick the key in the ignition to allow me to open the passenger door.
I already tried WD40 (loads of it). The local Saab garage said the inner door panels will have to com off (not easy with the door closed) to get at the lock mechanism. I could see the pound/dollar/euro signs in his eyes as he estimated the time.
Can't see my expectant wife climbing over the back seats with our 1 & 1/2 yr old to use the car and I am travelling away soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ed.
