Loose reflector in one headlamp

Cleaned the headlamp lenses and reflectors today. Noticed in one of them that the business (inside) end of the large adjustment knob (for side-to-side) had come loose from the round hole mounting point on the back of the reflector. One reason I took them out was to figure out why I was having trouble aiming that one. The other adjustor, for up-and-down, was still properly attached to the back of the reflector. The business end of the loose adjuster looked like some kind of three-armed clip, but I was afraid to over-force pushing it back into the little mounting hole from the back. So I just reassembled it as is.
Any way to dismount the reflector completely, then re-attach both adjusters to it properly? I'd rather live with it loose than risk breaking both of them and having to buy a new headlamp assembly.
