My 900 was changed from mineral oil to synthetic at 85,000 miles and I have minor seeps - nothing that drips, but the distributor needs a clean out every couple of months and the block is getting dirty with the oil on it.
Our Golf has seepage too after changing from mineral to synthtic at 60,000 miles, and I had a previous car where the crankshaft oil seal leaked profusely after changing at 50,000 miles.
I'm sticking with synthetic though as it has better protection for the engine, but beware of the side effects it may cause if you change over.
Regular changes of oil and filter are your number one defence against long term damage combined with nursing the engine and gearbox until the car has warmed up after a cold start (but not sitting idling).
