I tried to reply to you question yesterday, but as I sent the data the Saabnet server went down. I went with the 82?C stat just to keep the engine cooler. I live here in central VA and it doesn't get that hot out. I agree with Ted M. that running a cooler engine will generally preserve the enigine over the life of the car. Plus, I ran into Tom Townsend at Townsend Imports with a CEL and he went out of his way to tell me to use the 82?C stat and the Benz coolant.
I picked up the stat when I purchased the parts for a 95 000 mile service. So, at $15 from eEuroparts seemed worth it to me for a Saab stat.
