Battle of the V6 valve cover gasket sealants

To michael p and any others that were in the Battle of the V6 valve cover gasket sealants: I lost!
I used a light bead of Permatex hylomar on my front valve cover gaskets about Feb 1, 2003. Now we are 11 months and 9,000 miles later and my front valve cover is beginning to leak quite a bit again. It also looked like the cheesy plastic valve cover was a little more warped now than in the past, but I'm not sure. I don't really want to spend $110 something (new valve cover) that brings me so little joy.... Maybe I can get a low mileage one from a salvage yard?
Another holiday project. I think this time I will try Permatex Ultra Black silicone.

Final note: the rear valve cover continues rock solid with only a small bit of ultra blue silicone in the corners. It was resealed when I replaced the head gasket 16 months and 12,000 miles ago. But the exact same treatment doesn't work on the front; that lasted less than 3000 miles. So I think a lot of the problem is due to my warped front valve cover.
