sorry to give you the news, but your post here kills me.
Read through and you'll soon learn that the cheap alternative for
aluminum rims for winter are what you call "steel rims" they're dirt
cheap. Dean's last reply suggested "tirerack", you can get a steelie from them for as cheap as $39. Second, you're welcome to mix tires but it is not recommended but it's all up to your driving capability. If you think that having better traction at the front tire is good enough to save the day, then you've answered your question. I recommend, you match all 4 tires on your vehicle. As to what's "reasonably-priced", that depends on the individual. I say, If I'm going to care for my safety and that of my family then price is secondary 'cause money doesn't bring people back ...
