96 900SET w/132K - bought about 2 years ago - the drivers side heater didn't. Took it to an indie - he said BOTH pads were bad and that he could fix the bottom for $200. Wife drove the car mostly then and needed the heat. I've been driving it more lately and based on the info here decided to take on fixing the seat back grid.
Pulled the seat skin up and saw the seat back grid was broken where the rod goes across the seat about 3/4 of the way up the seat. Soldered the wires, dressed them under the rod, etc. Based on the Haynes schematic and info here, knew the grids were wired in series - wondered how the tech 'fixed' it last time. Tracked the wires and saw where he crimped a connector across the open grid. I guess I have to say it worked - I doubt he replaced the 'bad' lower pad. Live and learn I guess. Chalk up another one for Saabnet.
