I did take the seat out - it was raining and I didn't want to have to hassle with it. There are 4 30mm torx bolts the hold it to the mounting rails. You need to remove the 5 'hog rings' that close the seat cover. They are on the bottom edge of the seat. There are also two wire hooks that need to be released. I just bent the tab on the seat frame with a large screwdriver.

I rolled the seat skin up about 3/4 of the way. If you go slow you can turn the skin inside out and slide it on up. NOTE - about 2/3 the way up, there is a stiffening rod that runs across the seat - this is held in place with 2 small hog rings - this needs to be cut loose too.

The heating grid is covered with a layer of fabric that is glued to the seat foam. I started at one edge and gently lifted this fabric away from the foam. You will then see the heating grid. The seat back has two grid areas. Mine was broken between the bottom and top areas where the stiffening rod goes across the seat.

The rear grid was broken (both wires) where it was laying under this rod and apparently had too much pressure on it. After resoldering the wires, I cut small slits in the seat foam to allow the wires to lay under this wire without the pressure.

I rolled the seat cover back down, replacing the 'hog rings' with tiewraps.

The previous 'fix' was to essentially short out the seat back grid - I removed the short after repairing the grid. Now I have heat in the seat back and bottom! If I had only know about Saabnet 2 years ago - I could have fixed the real problem.

Overall, not a bad job - took maybe an hour.
