"Frozen 'Stuck' Power Antenna"

I am a long time Saab driver with 88 900 with 250+K and a 96 SET. I went through the power antenna thing with the 88, first replacing it with a Radio Shack and most recently placing a non power mast. The issue here is with the 96 SET and its power antenna. I don't drive the 96 much in the winter, it has never been on the road with salt. Up hear a stones throw from Canada, it has been in the teens and there has been no snow. To get the brakes from sticking on a day when it was about 25F, I went for a drive and the antenna would not extend. I turned the radio off and left it that way and have been driving the old faithful 88. Just now with temp. about 50, I turned the radio and the antenna went up fine. I was wondering what is the best thing to deal with an antenna that is obviously freezing up. For the door locks to prevent freezing up, I use WD-40.I sort of remember that this is not suggested for the power antenna. Any ideas? W.B.
