Changed over to a "rubber whip" style antenna

My power antenna was still working fine, but occasionally was sticking in ice (MN here) storms. Reception was "fair" and I tried going through the grounding tests that Saab put out to address reception problems. AM was especially bad. The main point, though, is, in my opinion, I didn't like the power mast! When it did stick (ice), I couldn't use the radio for fear of stripping the plastic teeth. When I turn the car on and off, up and down, up and down go the antenna. Cumbersome in my opinion. And the look when it was up ... forgive me, but it doesn't add to the look of the car.
Just switched to a rubber whip (approx 15") power antenna replacement. Fancy for saying I found an antenna that bolted into the hole left in the body after I removed the power mast assembly. Very Easy. Looks good, reception slight improvement. Seals well. Grounding is solid to the body where the mast hole is. You can "adjust" the angle for that "euro" look. Simple. AntennaX.com (although I believe they are a 2 bit reseller of a product probably available at generic parts stores).
Maybe a Saab loyalist would not give up on the power mast, but I am learning...
