Please don't tell me I should have junked her,...I wish I had, but have gone too far to give up. ok - nice car, v.gd on fuel, nice ride, perfect interior despite highish 177k mi. Repl'd struts/shocks & control arms 10k ago - now GRINDING noise from valve cover <?> though assured by many to be balance shaft chain (yanked vc - cams/bearing caps & everything else visable look like new). Started preparing for access to timing cover *shoot me now* & got distracted by undercarrige rust (that was 2 months ago)...much scraping, priming, fiberglassing & undercoating later the rust is gone - I hope. Now at the other end, I've found rusted brake pressure reducing valves seeping fluid $$$185 @ dealer - anyone know where I can get used/cheap replacements? How about eliminating the buggers w/cheap ol' brake line? Will the brakes lock up? What allows the 96' & newer models to do without these widgets? BACK @ the motor theres a nearly rusted out high pressure ps line (located @ Greenfield {MA} imorted car parts for a paltry $50....vs another $185 thru the dealership)& I have'nt even started on the damn engine! I plan on cutting the balance shaft chain & installing a tensioner oil feed block off - but how many more miles do you think the camshaft timing chain/tensioners will go? Should I replace that stuff while I'm in there? This car is busting my balls & money is tight. The clutch is orig. & nds repl. (tricky in summer heat/traffic) but I can't swing that now despite the duplication of labor necessary to do it later on. Should I bail or press on....? Thanks
