the tech's at my work (saturn dealorship) will do two things for a sticky gas pedal (by sticky i mean hard to get it to move at first, then it is smooth once you break it free, might not be your problem but this is similar i think). it will stick anytime you let it off completely (annoying in a manual, always over-rev).
they will 1) lube up the pivot point on the gas pedal, make sure it's not sticking there, and 2) this is the most common i believe, they open up the throttle body and the plate (butterfly?) will have some build up on it, and they clean that and it seems to always work for them. not sure exactly what they do to clean it, maybe someone else on the boards knows.
Jon
that's all i know really.
