it simply wouldn't start, as if the starter would not turn over. If the engine started, it stayed started.
One way to check posted on this board and which was true for me was to smell the DI cassette. A burnt epoxy smell indicates it's toast.
Good luck. DI cassettes aren't cheap but it's a very easy DIY repair and they last a long time (~100K seems to be the consensus on this board).
