My RR rotor has rust on the outside, and seems to be contacting on the inside. After a cursory examination, it appears that the outside pad is hanging up. Is the most probable reason the fact that I have rust all over my pad retaining pins? Looks like I need to remove the pad retaining pins, clean them up, lube with antiseize and reassemble.
Can I reuse the pins once they have been "pounded out with a punch" as the manual says to do? Is there any place else on the caliper assembly that I should check for hangups (slots that the pads slide in, etc)? What is the likely hood that the piston is seized? I figured I would try a basic cleanup, see if the rust disappeared, and if not, then move on to a piston examination.
Also, after a little cooling hose mishap over the holidays, I am seeking to do a little PM and replace all my coolant hoses, at a convenient time, rather than an inconvenient one. I've already replaced the heater core inlet/outlet hose.
Scoping out the car, and looking at the eeuroparts diagram, it appears I need to order about 7 more hoses. 2 different upper radiator hoses (from the expansion tank, and from the engine - # 9 & 4 on eeuroparts); 1 lower radiator hose (water pump to radiator - #10); 1 expansion tank to engine hose(#5); 1 hose from the top of the heater core inlet/oulet hose to the (throttle body?)(#8); one water pump outlet hose (#11); and one mystery hose (#12).
Anybody know what hose #12 on the eeuroparts diagram is called? Do I need to replace it with the coolant hoses? It was listed on their diagram, but not on the parts list.
Anything else i need to get along with the above? Other than the obvious stainless hose clamps?
Finally, what is the life expectancy of some of the other rubber hoses in the engine bay? Such as the hose from the PS pump to the PS reservoir? And the various turbo related air hoses? Can I get away with waiting for a leak on these, or will they be detrimental to operation when they do fail?
Thanks,
jesse
