I have recently bought a 97 900 Se Turbo w/ 45K miles. I am not a mechanic either (even if I were - I wouldn't be able to work on my car since I live in a densely populated city). The fact you can't "do-it-yourself" will not compute will some folks on this board but one this is for sure: everyone's advice is deadon accurate and the bottom-line is this board is a wonderful resource to have. With that said, be ready for maintenance related issues (especially if you are like me and rely on mechanics to do the work for me). I have no car payment so instead I've set up a "maintenance fund" and I put money aside each month. This is the only way to go. My previous car was an Acura. It had 60K miles on the odometer and I never did anything other than tires, brakes, and oil changes. Going to a Saab was a big change for us - a welcomed one. The car has so much personality and is so much more fun to drive.
Bottomline: people will/can rattle off a handful of items that are proned to failure (oil leaks, DI cassette, suspension, etc) but the bottomline is (since you aren't going to be repairing these things yourself) enjoy the car, and setup a fund to pay for the maintenance. It doesn't happen alot, but when it does it'll cost ya. In the end it'll be worth it though.
