After switching to non-synthetic the leaks were almost completely gone right away. Same viscosity, 10W-30.
Now that I have a new front main seal (fun project) and use a mix of 10W-30 and 20W-50 Mobil Drive Clean I have no leaks, no valve noise and the engine is very smooth and quiet. Some cars just don't like synthetic oil, I guess.
