Got the base line and talked to Larry and Larry. (Daryl and is brother Daryl?) No, Larry Strouth, Sr. and Jr. HP Works is literally behind his house in Colonial Beach. Great people and each have a TON of experience tuning cars.

Some of the toys he was working on: A twin supercharged (yes, TWO superchargers) Chevy truck, a '53 (?) Hudson Hornet convertible with a Corvette LT1, there was a BMW M6 on the dyno when I got there, there were a number of boats, a number of circle track cars, and some Mustangs. I did see a mid-year Corvette. And his most insane project: a mid-40's Packard that he's planning on dropping a BMW V-12 with twin turbochargers in it.

Anyway, on to the details. I'm thinking the weekend after next. If we get there early, we can cram all the cars in. Picnic tables will be set up and we'll have lunch brought to us -- bbq, burgers and the like. We will need to enlist club members in helping with strapping the cars down, and cycling them through.

If it's too cold, i.e., 40 degrees or lower, the dyno can't run, so we'll have to take a rain check. Today was gorgeous and a great time to get a base run on my CE before installing the header.

Natch, the one detail I missed is the most important one and that was how much for a group. I will find out. For 3 runs normally it was $65, and he says he'll come down per driver for a group.

Given the hike, plus the large and growing crowd, we really need to be there by 8:30 or so. I suggest we meet in Fredericksburg by 8 then caravan down. It's straight down Va. route 3.

More details to come as we get closer.

Jim Miller
