Background:
I have a silver (172H) Saab,it needs paint, but I'm not particularly fond of the shade of factory silver.I'd thought about getting it done in the mid70's sterling silver as seen on 99 EMS-I really like those vintage silvers, like on Porsche 356 & Mercs you see-(did old school silvers have a clearcoat?)-
But getting a totally different color would require a full body respray which is too expensive of an endeavor for my finances...so I thought perhaps I'd just get a respray of 172H(with proper prepwork) and experiment with the clearcoat...
How would my mid80's silver look with no clearcoat whatsoever?
Would that be completely unwise?
How about a flat clearcoat?-Or a "doped up" clearcoat?...I was thinking to get an old hood and have the shop paint it with my experimental idea flat clearcoat...is this insane?-How dramatic of an effect would a flat cc have on the shade?-Would waxing a flat cc be a problem?
Thanx for reading this craziness!
Any tips/advice/opinions much appreciated!
