Thank you very much, Bret. Your comments have been very helpful and I appreciate your reply.

I will try to answer your questions:

1. I used two foam pads, both of which were made for the PC. They were the white ones. I now understand that I should discard them in favor of something much better...Perhaps a couple mediums and a couple medium to fine bonnets will do? They didnt seem of very good quality upon inspection.

2. Single stage talladega red on my c900. All original paint, and I really want to keep it that way if I can help it. Body work is in excellent condition for the car's age (15 years). I presume the paint is a single stage acrylic enamel. It is clearly softer than any urethanes I remember working with.

3. I did not previously have wax on the car, that I can recall. I do believe the last time I did anything was when I hand polished it with 3M polishing compound. How does the wax affect the finish if new compound is applied and the old wax has not been removed? Just curious.

4. OK, I will definitely try using the PC at a higher speed with the rubbing compound. Actually, I may have been using it at 1 or 2 at most. Could have been my problem. When trying the swirl mark remover, I will start at 4 or 5 and go from there as well. I know I will need to experiment a little.

5. I will place an order tonight. Thanks for the website!!!

6. I believe I worked the compound into a 2ft by 2 ft surface for approx 45 seconds...Too short? Also, the machine suggests applying no pressure and just using its own weight to do the work. What do you suggest?

7. Do you suggest for a single stage acrylic that the foam pad is the most appropriate choice over any other compound like wool?

8. yes, I agree with you, I seem to have gotten much faster rsults with a rotary machine. I recall my first professional job where I really screwed up by working a sharp edge for too long. I learned my lesson. After that, my skills with the machine greatly improved due to fear of getting fired (I was a high school senior).

9. Last, do you think the 3M fine compound coupled with the swirl remover is an appropriate combination? Or do you think I should use a polish after the swirl remover? I have used 3M products in the past and tend to like the results they bring (aside from my recent experiment).

I really like the PC a lot, I just think I need more practice. Besides, I spent a lot on it and want to get the most out of it. Can you believe I had to drive an hour to get it? The only place that had it is a Lowe's several towns away!

Thanks again Brad.
