Hello everyone! I have begun a labor of love to restore the poor paint on my relatively new to me 1990 900T. The paint, as you can see is heavily oxidized and has bad water spots. I have removed the upper trim piece and will eventually replace the rest of the trim and also the bumpers and corners.
I started with Mequiar's paint restorer, that stuff works pretty darn good. The lady at Autozone let me try it out before I bought it. The areas that are really scratched up and spotted, I used this process, wet sanding, 2000 grit, then used 3M rubbing compound, Meguiar's paint polish, Scratch X and finally wax. It's not going to be show room, but, it's starting to look a helluva lot better.
I have only done this on the drivers side section of the hood to test things out before I start the rest of the car.
So, what do you all think? Is my process ok? Any suggestions or corrections would be greatly appreciated, as I want my new baby to be happy.
