Agreed with Bret. You are on the right track.
If you are planning on doing all of the steps including Polish and Wax consider running down to the Home Depot and picking up an orbital polisher. It will decrease the wear and tear on your arms.
Dress the wheels and tires first. Armour All wheel cleaner and Professional Tire Foam along with a sponge and brush get the job done nicely.
Note that different glass cleaners only remove one type of dirt, so you may need to use 2 different types of cleaners to get the windows streak free and fully clean.
Then, take your MIL for a fast cruise to the Market for some beers to celebrate your hard work!! Show us before and after pics. Would love to see the finished the product.
