A foamgun (Gilmour) would be your answer. Spray a thick coat of shampoo on the car (in the shade) and let it soak for 5 minutes. Rinse off.
Repeat if necessarry.
To increase effectiveness you can add some All Purpose Cleaner to the shampoo.
Then wash the car using the two bucket method : 1 with shampoo and one to rinse the mitt (lambswool or microfiber) The use of a sponge would be dramatic for your paint.
If you don't have a foamgun : rinse gently for a long time and then wash using the 2 buckets method. Rinse frequently your mitt and change a lot of time the rinsing bucket.
Taking your time will be the best way to go.
