I need some experienced advice on the basics to keep my 9-3 ss looking good. I've always loved my cars but never put much work into keeping the exterior looking stellar. I end up loving my car to the point that it looks like it's not going to roll anymore, mostly because really all I've ever done is wash the thing occassionally, when in fact it's still a great care interior-wise and mechanically. It just looks like crap.
So, my car is right at 6 mos. from manufacture date and I know I should look to wax about now. I've been reading this board and seen that, knowing me, the steps I am likely to follow through on are clean, polish, wax. I don't want to spend 8 hours a week on the car but I do want to keep it looking good - I'm going to have this thing for a while.
That said, I don't know the first thing about polishing or waxing. How hard is it? How long does it take? Is a novice likely to screw this up big time? What are the realistic chances that I take a 6-month-old car that looks great and do something really regrettable in the name of long-term exterior maintenance.
As you can see, I need some help. I am clueless here. All contributions much appreciated.
