On black depending on your experience, a safer bet would be to use a bar. Less likely to cause paint issues after, and, really, the clay does such a nice job.
I, too, was a random orbit buffer person, too;. That is, until I began to use clay bars. then, the paint is so smooth and clean, applying any type of glaze or wax becomes really effortless.
After applying several treaments to my 9-3SS (although only using the bar the first time), I can wash/IHG/Wax in just under 2 1/2 hours.
