well, the newer 9-5's got 5 stars, too.
Although I do recall when doing research on the 9-3 (we have both cars) that Saab was going to ask the folks at EuroNCAP if they could advertise the 9-3SS as the safest car ever tested by them. Dunno the outcome, though.

FWIW, I'd rather be in a car that was designed with crumple zones, etc. than a full frame truck that would put all of the load forces on your body.
