Hey Dean,
Some of these kids wouldn't know a turbo from their rear end. I
regretted the link to that bulletin board. The language is so crass and
vulgar. Don't get me wrong. I'm as much a fan of risqué humor as the
next guy, but these guys use the F word as a mindless adjective.
Like someone in that thread pointed out, if the guy was red-lining, he
was getting maximum horse power out of his engine and did not need to
down shift.
I've been practicing double-clutch down-shifts. The I4 rewards me
with a pleasant grunt or roar of approval when I blip it :-)
Also, if the revs are too high and one attempts to down-shift, the
synchros resist. The kid probably forced the down-shift. He deserves
a blown engine.
