All Shell is able to do is change the detergents. All of the gas for all of the companies comes from the same pipeline. Here in Washington, we only have a few refineries for all of our gas, and none of them are owned by Shell. A company dumps X gallons in one end of the pipeline and takes X gallons out at the other end, then mixes in their additives. They don't really know whose gas they're taking out, just that it's as much as they put in.
