I had one of several IBM hard drives fail, sent it in for another, and it had an orange refurb sticker on it. It failed within a few months. IBM/Hitachi would not replace it. Not that I really wanted another, just curious. I have had several other IBMs fail, but have not bothered to send them back because I don't want their replacements. If I take a machine out of service for an upgrade and replace the IBM drive, I either dispose of it or give it to an employee under the condition that it will never be used at work.
I'm currently liking the Seagate IDE baracudda drives. Very quiet and pretty fast, and so far reliable.
