Add Aux Input to Saab HU?

I've seen a few threads on hooking iPods up, etc, but never any real solutions. I'm looking for a way to add an aux input to my Saab HU. For example, for many cars, you can buy an adapter that will convert the CD Changer input into a normal input, by "fooling" the car into thinking there's a changer installed. None of these products advertises itself as working with a Saab.
My car is a 2003 9-3 convertible (so the same audio system as a 2000 - 2003 9-3 SE.)
Does anyone know if Saab's head units are the same as any other cars? Are they the same Pioneer units that are used in some other GMs or VWs? Or, has anyone tried hooking into the CD changer cable without such a device? I suspect that because of their irritating anti-theft systemm, it needs some authenticated code before it'll let you use the input.
Failing that, could I just tap into the leads between the HU and amp? Is a line-level output from an iPod the same "voltage" as the output from the head unit? I'd lose volume control, but it would be better than nothing, I guess.
I'm trying to hook my iPod up, and the FM modulator sucks in every respect. There's got to be a better way.
Thanks for any tips...
