You might try reposting and ask specifically for people like Aaron Gilbert or other car autio aficianados to respond. I always scan the page for people posting my name (its happened twice).

My only hesitation with the ghetto method is the possibility of shorting out the head unit - unlikely but never the less...

its a shame the saab/clarion schematics arn't available. Perhaps you could call your local car audio place and ask what the CD changer unit cables do - Though there might be a few industry "standards" I doubt there's that many.
