The one possible mistake I see is with the calculation of depreciation. If depreciation is calculated as new car list price - used car value, then companies that traditionally offer bigger incentives (the Big Three) will always come out worse in the depreciation calculations. If depreciation is calculated based on actual sale prices of new cars, then I would imagine things are more equal.
In any case, I agree that used cars are a good deal. My '99 9-3 cost me about half of the original MSRP, and as far as I'm concerned, it's as good as a 2002 (better, since the base model wasn't available in 2002). The main difference is the lack of a warranty, which has cost me just over $100 so far (owned the car 8 1/2 months).
