Some people really don't understand answering machines at all.
I used to have a message that said, "Hey, this is Matt, leave me a message and I'll call you back."
Every day, I'd get home, and there would be messages from at least one or two people with the wrong number. Often, the message would consist of, "Hello? Hello? Hello?" as if the person had no idea how an answering machine worked.
Other times, they'd ask for someone by name, as in, "Hi, is Joe there?" Like the machine is going to answer them.
My favorite so far: "Cooonraaaaaad! Coooonraaaaaaaaaaad! Cooonraaaaaaaaad!"
After that one, I changed my recording: "Hi, if you're trying to reach Matt, please leave a message and I'll call you back. If you're calling for someone else, I'm sorry, but _you__have__the__wrong__number_" (last part said very slowly and clearly). This seems to have had the desired effect, as I'm not getting as many strange messages.
