What he really missed in his comparison with other vehicles is the wonderful turbo experience. Sure, he spun the wheels, but did he pass a semi at 80mph and delight in the turbo boosting up? No... missed it.
I have to agree with him, however, about Saab loosing its ergonomic sensibilities. To tune the radio in my wife's Volvo, I simply spin a knob back or forth. I can go from 88.3 to 104.3 in a single twist. Fast, effective. On my 9-5, I have to hold down "seek" then let it go to "manual" mode, then race the damn thing to tune to the station I want before it goes to 'seek' again. ARGGGGG! The 9-3SS radio sounds like it would drive my wife bananas (well, more bananas). And the ACC is an absolute nightmare of complexity, and has been since the 9000 came out. Again, everytime my wife drives my car, I find the temp set to 78 or so because "the damn thing was blowing cold air at me and I have no idea how to make it stop" <- direct quote.
Saab should put out a manual temp control, manual radio control, LPT 4 banger and lower the price to the point where it would compete with those boring Acura and Nissans. Turbo is the message. Simplicity and reliability should be a goal.
