does that stop most people anyway? The oil temp guage, the volt meter and the whole dash in general in my Audi A4 looks very "cool" (and I actually do know what all the gauges do :-) ) but lots of buyers prolly just buy it for the cool look alone even if they have no idea what the guages do/mean...and I think adding a few gauges would be one way of improving the quality of the interior at least in the eyes of the car magazines and the general public. I like the Saab interiors but I think there is room for improvement.
I personally like to have as much info as possible as to what's happening with my car--while still retaining a tasteful feel, I of course hate the japanese import style huge tach tacked on, etc. Furthermore, if Saab added additional guages it might be a nice nod the airplane heritage: creating a true driver's cockpit feeling...that might go a long way towards swaying some BMW, Audi, and Mercedes buyers...and the magazine writers who influence them as it seems the gerneral consensus is that Saab is finally nearly, if not as good a performance match, but the interiors are still lacking.
