even if you patch into the cell phone antenna wiring. I'm guessing here, but the person who routed the cell phone wiring probably tucked it around the edges of the headliner. You will (probably) want the shark fin in the centre of your roof, a few inches from the rear window. It would be insanely difficult to try to get the wiring through the hole you will have to cut without removing the headliner. Also, on the roof mount antenna that I'm familiar with, you will also need to secure a nut to hold the antenna firmly in place (the metal clips I mentioned are mainly to hold the antenna in position while the main nut is tightened). Again, I haven't seen the Saab shark fin outside of the vehicle, so it may be different.
This could be an interesting project...Did the dealer have one in stock that you could look at? It's always nice to see the part before you start taking stuff apart, especially in a scrap yard.
I should make up a sketch of the roof mount antenna that I've seen, post it. I'll try to do that tonight (no scanner at work). It has more components than you would think.
