if you're looking to do some amateur photography, experimenting with manual settings and stuff and aren't afraid of spending some time getting to really know your camera, go fo the 750. the c-50 would be excellent if you're more of a point and shoot type and want straight-forward ease of use. you may see some difference between 4 and 5 mp. i own both 2 and 3 mp cams and the 3mp one definitely outshines the 2 megapixel. however, three megapixels is already quite sufficient for good print outs, up to a fairly large size when full quality is used. anything above that, imo is extra and really depends on if you want to seriously enlarge your digital photographs.
also consider portability. the c-750 is definitely larger than the c-50.
