It is my understanding (from the dealer and this board) that the navigation system will start shipping in the 2005 model year cars. You may possibly see it as an update for mid 2004 (2004 1/2.)
There is some talk that a 9-3 with the infotainment 2 could possibly be wired up for navigation, and then you could just add it on at a later point in time (but this is an unsubstantiated rumor.)
Apparently the problem has been getting the maps for North America onto the system, which is why Europe has them and we don't. (That's another rumor...I suspect that's partially true, and they're still testing the system in Europe first.)
