I missed the earlier discussions, so here's my $0.02-
Heat and pressure are different manifestations of energy. When combustion occurs in the cylinder, the potential chemical energy in the gasoline is released in the form of heat (and light) and pressure (which also creates sound.)
This energy release pushes the piston down, which in turn pushes another piston (whose exhaust valves are open) up, expelling the hot gases into the exhaust manifold. From there the {hot+pressurized} gases encounter the turbo impeller vanes which resist the energized gas particles. This resistance removes some of the energy from the gas particles, cooling and slowing them somewhat, and adds energy to the turbo rotors by spinning and heating them.
On the other side of the turbo, the spinning energy of the vanes compresses the intake air. These air particles resist the motion of the compressor vanes and the energy is passed from the turbo unit to the intake air by creating pressure (and heat.)
