I've had a 2000 9-5, my wife has a 2002. When the lease was up on my 9-5 I got the 9-3 Linear with launch. Big mistake. Go with the 9-5. It feels like a SAAB / European car, while the 9-3 feels like a GM car (cheap and low quality). At 12,000 miles the cheap plastic interior is plagued with squeeks and rattles. As you've noted, the stereo is horrible -- inexcusably bad for a car in this price range. The GM bean counters clearly have been at work, which doesn't bode well for the long term reliability of the car. Go 9-5 or look elsewhere (wish the new Acura TL had been out when I got the 9-3; now I'm stuck with my creaking 9-3 for two more years waiting for the lease to end).
