I actually think it's a pretty sweet looking car, but by all accounts it's a fake. As far as anyone knows Saab never discussed a Sonett IV much less a Sonett V and really this thing has little to no resemblence of Saab's forward-going design characteristics. In fact, given that the Sonett's market was predominantly America, it's pretty unlikely a new model would be based on a platform that was already planned to be discontinued in America. Overall, there is nothing about the car or its "documentation" that indicates it's anything more than a body shop's project.
This car was advertised on some LA-area dealer's website for years, then autotrader, then finally ebay. I think the asking price was a five-digit number, but I don't totally recall.
Anyway, like I said, I actually kinda like the way it turned out but there's little to no chance it's geniune. Bob Sinclair certainly didn't think so, although it was admittedly before his time.
