Bought my car used and then switched wheels. It was unbelievable!

I had to go buy an extended 1/2" breaker (the biggest one) at Sears to get my lugnuts undone when I went to swap wheels--and even then almost had to go get an extension for that. That was after I sheared two 1/2 to 3/8 adapters. But wait,

after that, I still couldn't get the wheels off and resorted to, I'm not kidding, a PICK AX with a T-shirt wrapped around the shovel-type end, and me hanging off the other end, handle bowing on all 4 before the wheel popped-off. The handle would have broke more than once if I hadn't stopped to spin/hammer-on the wheel. They were that tight. Either the previous owner must have really pissed-off the guys who put those wheels on or they were just total morons. They weren't just impact tight, they were more like 2 or 3 minutes of continuous-impact on each lug tight. A PICK AX!

I'm not so sure that it'd be unreasonable to assume that there was some sintering going-on where the metals were actually beginning to fuse together.

That was my maddest 6 or so hours in recent memory...unbelievable. But yeah you guys are both totally right about checking your torque's after any garage visit.
