For those of you who have been following my saga, I'm so pleased to report that my 9K Aero is now back in tip-top shape. Paint was matched perfectly, all doors open properly, and they even replaced the black rubber part of the bumper that I had said was OK to leave as is. Best news was that the final cost was far less than I'd feared...grand total of $579.25. I had been concerned about my neighbor's ability to pay, so I was happy to give her this good news. She still seemed a tiny bit surprised--maybe she was hoping for even less--but I kept reassuring her that this was a great deal. And I don't feel so bad and guilty anymore.
The biggest bonus was that the shop discovered, likely due to heavy rain all day, that my sunroof drains were leaking, and they fixed those. I wasn't aware of the problem so I feel lucky that they had the car on such a rainy day and were able to fix it.
So we are as good as new, 126000 miles and looking great :)
Now, time for the Volvo to go back into the shop for a possible caliper problem...
