I didn't bother at the time and believe I made the right decision for myself. I liked many things about high school, but didn't like it as a whole well enough to buy a ring for it. Twelve years later, I don't wear my high school jacket anymore. I do have all 4 years of yearbooks, partly because I like books and partly because I did a lot of work on the yearbook. They are handy and entertaining references/histories.
If you like jewelry, go ahead and get one if you want it.
I have a gold wedding band which was less expensive than a class ring and is much more important and relevant to me than a high school ring.
