is there to be learned....which I'm sure you have by now.
ASSUME NOTHING...this is true with car dealers and every thing else in the world. I've learned that as you have....the hard way.
Yes, I agree, they should be more customer service oriented but...most dealers (SAAB and others) are not. More often, the entire staff is motivated by the greed of the owner and fear of the owner. Unfortunately what you experienced is usually the type of atmosphere that is produced. But, lets face it....making money is what they are there for...but like I said....good customer service should come when you are spending the type of money it takes to buy a car.
I'm sure Mike Lynch will add in some comments soon....and it seems he works at one of the out of the ordinary dealers where customer service matters.
So...take away the following.
Always make a phone call before driving significant distances.
Make a list of things you want done to the car before you pick it up and check them off before you ever drive away. Once you are gone...they don't care most of the time.
ALWAYS GET IT IN WRITING......again, one of those unfortunate circumstances of life that trusting people must eventually come to face with....not everyone is as honest and good intentioned as you.
Sorry that may sound jaded but it is the truth.
Sorry about your troubles and I hope you get everything worked out to your likeing and you enjoy the car!
