The Ad was not completely clear, I agree. It was misleading, however I used to work for a dealer that would use the same tactics, and I do disapprove of them very much, yet they bring traffic into the store. And there are much worse tactics than that. The store I used to work for every few months would advertise 4000 for a trade minimum, push pull or tow it in. To make up for this obvious loss, they would mark the cars on the lot up 4000 just before the ad was printed. It would literally turn my stomache each time I tried to explain this to a customer. Shady car tactics. But it brought in traffic, and from their perspective, if it brought in 100 people, and they sold one more car than they would have without the ad, it was worthwhile. Needless to say I do not any longer work for this dealer.
Its this kind of advertising that keeps people thinking that dealers and car salesmen are bad people. Most of us are honest people doing our jobs. The way I look at it is, Not knowing a person very well is not reason enough to screw them over on a car deal. I gotta be able sleep at night.
